Preparation: 1 heaped teaspoon, 70-75°C, 300ml, steep for 1 minute. Suitable for multiple infusions.

The production of our premium Sencha Fukamushi differs from traditional Sencha production.

Fukamushi is produced using a special process in which the tea leaves are steamed intensely after harvesting—longer than for traditional Sencha. This extended steaming process (approximately 2-3 minutes) stops the enzymes and preserves the fresh green color and flavor of the leaves. The intense steaming also softens the leaves and breaks them down into smaller pieces, facilitating the extraction of their aromas.

After steaming, the leaves are rolled and dried, which creates the characteristic texture of Sencha Fukamushi – the leaves are finer and less firm than those of conventional Sencha. This processing ensures a faster and more intense extraction, so the tea can be brewed more quickly and is more aromatic.

The finished tea has a light green color and a mild, smooth taste that offers a balanced umami note and a light sweetness.
